A hilltop house , assuring breathtaking vantage views and
privacy, this house speaks of old money without being intimidating. Taking
inspiration from the log cabins in Colorado, the owner had a functional
fireplace built in the house- along with a chimney. Having to
work within the constraints of Singapore's building regulations though, an
all-log exterior was simply not an option. Exposed timber strips( of chengai
wood to withstand the punishing tropical weather) had to be covered up.
Limitations and constraints aside, the house presents
the best in country home living. The best quality in finishes-from the handmade
terracotta flooring, the embossed tiles in the toilets, solid teak wardrobes and
kitchen cabinets- is presented in an unassuming package and never reaches the
point of ostentation.
A suitable family home, the house has a poolside bar,
with an outdoor jacuzzi adjacent to the pool. Private access to balconies in the
children's bedroom provides a welcome private, recess outdoor area for the
children. Large grounds providing ample opportunities for landscaping, this
house is a resplendent country home suitable for those who love the privacy of
hilltop bungalows and the lush green surroundings of the Singapore Island
Country Club.
